The Lost Generation

In my post The Disappeared Ones, I noted that a million working age Americans have fallen out of the labor force every year of the Obama administration.

These Americans appear to be our children.

The Millennials Civic Health Index found that only 62% of Millenials (the nickname for Americans under the age of 30) can find work and half of those can only find part time work.

Indeed, the only Americans who appear to be able to find work are those 55 years of age and older.

Why the discrepancy?

Government mandates have made it so expensive to run businesses and hire new workers that employers are passing by the young and inexperienced for the older and more productive for new hires – if they are hiring at all.

Five years after the 2008 recession officially ended, 61% of Americans are now despairing that the United States will never recover from this never ending economic depression.

More disturbingly, many of our children may end up waiting years to get started building their lives.
